Welcome to our March Pattern of the Month series, where I'm revisiting a beloved classic Cotton and Joy that continues to be one of my favorites! This month, I'm super excited to share with you the Midpoint quilt pattern. It's one of those designs that just screams modern coolness while also being a breeze to put together. Seriously, if you're in need of a quick gift idea or want to whip up something special for a grad or a friend, Midpoint has got you covered. It's all about that perfect blend of style and speed, making it a go-to for any quilter looking to add a touch of contemporary charm to their projects. So, let's dive right in and discover the magic of our March pattern!
Meet March's Pattern of the Month - Midpoint!
Midpoint is a modern quilt pattern with a stunning design for a bold impact. Because of its minimal piecing, Midpoint sews together very quickly. Some of you that have been around for a while might recognize this pattern from its feature in the Modern Makes subscription! Amber of MM/Alderwood Studio asked me if I wanted to to collaborate and of course I said yes!
Midpoint is on sale through the entire month of March 2024! You can shop the quilt pattern plus new quilt kits and stickers all month long. Find the full Pattern of the Month Collection at the end of this blog post.
Okay, now on to the quilt! I've made 3 Midpoint quilts so far. The one shown below is a super special one because it was shown at the 2022 QuiltCon show! It's hard to believe that this quilt is already 2.5 years old now. It's about time I make another one, wouldn't you say?! You can read more about this blue ocean-inspired version of Midpoint here.
The next Midpoint quilt I want to showcase is cover quilt! I made the sample below using a Ruby Star Society fabric collection called Whatnot. This collection was designed by the lovely Rashida Coleman-Hale. You might recognize her name for designing Sunbeam, Linear, and the ever-so-popular Speckled fabrics! You can read more about the cover Midpoint sample here.
Last but certainly not least is my Speckled version of Midpoint! This one was so much fun to make. I used the bright Speckled fabrics from Ruby Star Society to make this awesome rainbow version come to life. You'll notice there is a mix of quilting happening in this quilt. I paired up some straight-line quilting with hand quilting to give this quilt a nice mix of texture. It only took me two straight days of hand quilting (and Netflix) to get this quilt finished but it was totally worth it! You can read more about this sample here.
The Midpoint quilt pattern is a fun one that lends itself to showing off some pretty quilting cotton fabrics nicely. This quilt pattern comes together so quickly and is pretty simple to make! In case you find yourself running into some trouble making Midpoint, check out my YouTube video where I demonstrate how to trim Block A.
I have to brag on my girl Alexis of Stitched by Alexis. I sent her this quilt, along with the Cabin Peaks cover and the Andes Ode cover, to have some pretty new pictures taken. I can't express to you all just how much I love these pictures! They make me see my quilt in a whole new light and love it even more. Thank you, Alexis!!
I've actually teamed up with Alexis to bring you some awesome longarm quilting discounts each month! You can enjoy 15% off edge-to-edge (E2E) quilting on all Midpoint quilts sent to her by April 15th. Just use the code MIDPOINT15 on the Stitched by Alexis longarm quilting order form. |
