FAQ

Who are the designers?

The nine designers for the 2023 Spooky Season Sample are:

  1. Julie of Running Stitch Quilts
  2. Sarah of Sarah Jean Makes
  3. Tiffany of Village Bound Quilts
  4. Ben Millett
  5. Nicole of Modern Handcraft
  6. Lynette of Lyns Avenue
  7. Satomi of Satomi Quilts
  8. Corinne Sovey
  9. Fran of Cotton and Joy

What fabric are you using? Is there a kit?

Riley Blake Designs is our fabric sponsor and supplied all of the fabric you see in the Sampler.

Each designer used a selection of Confetti Cotton Solids and prints from the Haunted Adventure collection.

Unfortunately, there is no kit available for this sampler.

Do you have fabric requirements?

We do! Please note due to the nature of the sampler, these are rough estimates and we've opted to include more fabric than strictly needed, so there will be some waste in the end.

  • Background: 2.75 - 3 yards (this includes 1.25 yards needed for sashing/borders)
  • White/Light: .5 to .75 yard
  • Black/Dark: 1 yard
  • Other*: 6-7 FQs

For the "Other" fabric, we recommend at least 1 Yellow FQ and 1 Orange FQ. The remaining 4 FQs can be a selection of Halloween-y fabric.

What will be the finished size?

Each block will be 15" finished (15.5" unfinished).

After adding sashing and borders, the quilt top will finish at 57" x 57".

Is it suitable for beginners?

The blocks were created with beginners in mind, however, there are some blocks that skew more towards confident beginner. Some of the skills included or required for this sampler -

  • Stitch-and-flip / snowball corners
  • 60º triangles
  • Piecing curves
  • Foundation paper piecing
  • Small piecing

How do I download the blocks?

Once subscribed, you will receive an emails with the new block daily from October 1 - 9.

After October 9, the blocks will all be available for download on a subscribers-only page until October 31st.

At midnight October 31st, the blocks disappear. Some designers might chose to continue offering the blocks, either as free downloads or in their shops. If/when they do, we'll update this page with the links.
