February Pattern of the Month: Andes Ode

Welcome to our February Pattern of the Month series, where I'm revisiting a beloved classic Cotton and Joy that continues to be one of my favorites. This month, I'm shining a spotlight on a quilt pattern that makes for a timeless quilt that is sure to be loved for a long time! Whether you're an experienced quilter or just beginning your quilty journey, this pattern offers endless opportunities for creativity and expression. Let's dive into our February pattern!

Meet February's Pattern of the Month - Andes Ode!

Andes Ode quilt pattern is inspired by Mapuche textiles from my home country, Chile. This beginner friendly quilt pattern is a great weekend project that makes a bold statement. Choose from three color variations for a personalized touch on a design steeped in tradition. You can read more about this quilt pattern and its importance to me in this blog post!

Before you step out on your own to make this fun quilt, check out my tips and tricks blog post for Andes Ode! In this post, I share my tips to make this quilt-making process smooth and easy!

Andes Ode is on sale through the entire month of February 2024! You can shop the quilt pattern plus quilt kits and the Joyful Stitches cross stitch pattern all month long. Find the full Pattern of the Month Collection at the end of this blog post.

Okay, now on to the quilt! When Andes Ode quilt pattern was released back in 2019, I only had the chance to make one quilt sample. It's so strange to think that since I do my best to make at least two quilt samples for every quilt pattern release now! Even though I only made the one sample, I made sure to make it a good one!

The cover Andes Ode quilt was made using Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton solid fabrics! The colors used are Prussian, Salmon, Dusty Blue, White, and Grellow. This is only one of three color variations though! Check out the other color variations available in this quilt pattern below.

When I finished up making my Andes Ode quilt top, I figured this was the quilt to trying out something other than my typical straight-line quilting! I, of course, turned to Jacquie Gering's amazing book "Walk". I had so much fun flipping through the pages and looking at all of the fun quilting designs. I settled on this one and scaled it to my quilt's design. It was a little scary to try something new, but I'm so pleased with out it turned out! I even added some hand quilting accents in there too!

I mentioned it above but in case you missed it - I turned Andes Ode into a cross stitch pattern. Andes Ode, along with a few others, can now be stitched up cross-stitch style! The Joyful Stitches series is one of those projects that popped into my head and I just ran with it! I'm so glad I did too. I absolutely adore how these turned out.

I have to brag on my girl Alexis of Stitched by Alexis. I sent her this quilt, along with the Cabin Peaks cover, to have some pretty new pictures taken. I can't express to you all just how much I love these pictures! They make me see my quilt in a whole new light and love it even more. Thank you, Alexis!!

I've actually teamed up with Alexis to bring you some awesome longarm quilting discounts each month! You can enjoy 15% off edge-to-edge (E2E) quilting on all Andes Ode quilts sent to her by March 15th. Just use the code ANDESODE15 on the Stitched by Alexis longarm quilting order form.
