Meet December's Pattern of the Month - Tree Farm!
Hey friends! December is here, and I couldn’t be more excited to chat about this month’s featured quilt pattern – Tree Farm! 🎄 This modern, Christmas tree-inspired design has been a favorite for years, and it’s such a fun one to sew during the holiday season.
If you’re all-in on holiday projects or just looking for a fresh, modern design, Tree Farm Quilt is ready to bring some magic to your sewing space. And to sweeten the deal, we’ve got a special offer for you this month - more on that below!
The Story of Tree Farm
This one’s a big deal to me because the Tree Farm Quilt is actually the very first quilt pattern I ever released, way back in 2018! I still remember sketching out the idea, testing blocks, and dreaming of Christmas tree farms here in Washington State, which inspired the design.
It was exciting and nerve-wracking all at once, but looking back, it’s the pattern that launched Cotton and Joy, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.
The pattern is great for confident beginners and includes instructions for two sizes - a wall hanging and a throw. It uses traditional piecing techniques and templates, which make the construction so clean and polished. If templates feel a little intimidating, don’t worry! There’s a step-by-step blog post to walk you through everything you need to know.
What I love most about this pattern is how versatile it is. It’s obviously perfect for Christmas, but you can really mix it up with different colors or fabrics to make it work for any time of the year.
Two Stunning Tree Farm Quilts
The Cover Quilt – Classic Christmas
For the cover version, I leaned into a classic Christmas vibe. It has a crisp white background that makes the green trees pop, and it’s everything you’d want from a festive holiday quilt. It’s simple, modern, and full of cozy vibes.
The Fall-Inspired Version – Warm and Cozy
The second version took a completely different turn. I went with a light background and swapped the greens for reddish-brown trees, giving it a warm, autumn-inspired feel. This one was so fun to make because it brought a cozy, seasonal twist to the pattern. Straight-line quilting added just the right touch of texture to finish it off.
