Cozy Village quilt pattern is now available in my shop!
After making the cover Cozy Village quilt, which was full of bright colors and prints, I wanted to go in a little different direction for my second Cozy Village quilt. I went back and forth a lot on what size to make (another throw size or baby?) and what colors to use. I knew I would be using solids fabric, but didn't know much more beyond that.
Confetti Cottons Solids
That's about when I saw this post by Bev of Flamingo Toes and fell in love with the colors she used, so after playing around with them on Illustrator for a bit, I knew I had a good combination of colors.
I got the lot of them, and my original plan was to make a throw size and use white for the background. But life got in the way and I changed my original plan down to a baby size.
Then, as I was gathering the fabric I realized this would be the perfect opportunity to use my print from the Hush Hush 2 collection, so I grabbed some of that and got to work!
I wish I had more photos to share, but I sewed this together so quickly, that I don't!
Quilt Finishes
Since I was getting close to my photoshoot deadline, I went ahead and quilted this one myself (instead of sending it to the long armer). For the backing, I used some left over Dapple Dot in Silver I had from my Zephyr quilt.
Then I put this in my Janome 9450 and used the wavy stitch preset on the machine. I'm honestly obsessed with this stitch - It adds the perfect amount of texture to this sweet quilt, but it's as easy as straight line quilting with my walking foot!
For the binding, originally I was going to use one of the pinks from the quilt top. But I changed my mind last minute and I'm so glad I did! I used the striped yellow fabric from my Daybreak collection. It coordinates just perfectly with the yellow in the quilt top but isn't too jarring.
