Cosmic Mini - Cancer Quilt Block

Cosmic Mini - Cancer Quilt Block

Welcome to the July Block, the 7th block from the Cosmic Collection! This month's quilt block/mini quilt is celebrating the season of Cancer (June 22 to July 22). In case you didn't know, I'm a Cancer! Cancer is considered to be the fourth sign in the zodiac and is represented by the crab - which fits its water sign classification. Ruled by the moon, Cancer energy is very emotional, sweet, and caring.

You can grab this Cosmic Mini Cancer Block now in my shop! I would love to see the Cancer quilt blocks you make. Feel free to tag me on Instagram and use the hashtags #cancerblock and #cottonandjoypatterns in your post!

COSMIC COLLECTION: 12 ZODIAC QUILT BLOCKS

So what's the Cosmic Collection, you ask? I thought you'd never ask! The Cosmic Collection is a mini quilt of the month series where four designers have come together to bring you 12 Zodiac-inspired quilt blocks. The designers include me - Fran Gulick of @cottonandjoy, Julie Burton of @runningstitchquilts, Ben Millett of @benmillett, and Katie Hanson of @moderntextiles. You can purchase each block individually from each designer, or you can grab all 12 in the Cosmic Mini Quilt Bundle.

ABOUT THE BLOCK

The seventh block of our sampler project is extra special because it represents my astrological sign, Cancer! Designing this block so soon after my Moonchild collection was finished felt like kismet. The clean and modern crab design with the moon above perfectly captures the essence of the moonchild. And of course it was only natural that I use my Moonchild fabrics for this block too! Check out the full quilt mock-up in my Moonchild fabrics below.

The Cancer Mini Quilt pattern includes paper templates for easy assembly right at home. However, I designed this mini quilt pattern to be compatible with my Modern Curves Template set! I am a big fan of these templates because they are sturdy, easy to use, and compatible with some of my other quilt patterns. You can check out that full pattern collection here.
