I am so excited to share that I will be hosting a quilt along for my newest pattern, Hexie Blooms!
I started thinking about doing a quilt along for this pattern back in February and then wrestle with the decision to hold it as the news regarding the Coronavirus grew more and more dire, especially here in the Seattle area, with each passing day.
But then, I realized, that this time of social distancing is the perfect time for a quilt along!
The pattern comes in multiple sizes from baby to queen-size and the quilt along will focus on making a throw size quilt that finishes at 58" x 65", but you can tackle any size!
Hexie Blooms is perfect for confident beginners. It's a modern quilt pattern that mimics the look of vintage grandmother's flower garden quilts, without all the handwork! There are no y-seams in the quilt construction, but you will be cutting pieces from a template or special ruler. I will offer tips throughout the whole QAL regarding best practices for working with templates, sewing pieces that have 60-degree angles, etc!
Dates
The quilt along will run for 7 weeks, starting April 13. Here are the exact dates!
April 13 - May 31

Supplies Needed
You’ll need the Hexie Blooms pattern (PDF or Printed copy), and of course, fabric 🙂
The pattern is extremely flexible and you can use precuts (jelly rolls, charm packs, layer cakes) as well as fat quarters, or yardage!
Another helpful tool to have in hand is a half-hexie ruler or a 60-degree triangle ruler (I'll be showing you how to use this ruler to cut hexies during week one!)
If you’re making a size other than the throw size, find the total number of blocks your quilt size has and divide that by 5 to get your weekly block count 🙂

Quilt Kits
Some of my favorite fabric shops have put together quilt kits for you!
Fabric Bubb has once again made a kit for the cover sample quilt.
This kit includes enough fabric to make the Full Bloom versions, as the cover, or you can make it into a Scattered Blooms version :)
Fabric Stork has kits for this bright and happy version in the Etsy store!
Lamb and Loom had the sweetest bundle using the Playground fabric collection from Windham fabrics! (this quilt kit is no longer available).
